Dr. Amy’s Top 3 ( Healthy) Frozen Treats
Do you love Summer frozen delights but hate how they make you (and your waistline) feel afterwards? Then read on for three of Dr. Amy’s favorite healthy frozen treats.
1. Coconut Bliss Ice Cream – This delicious product has the amazing mouth feel and creaminess of ice cream without the guilt or sugar crash you feel after eating cow’s milk ice cream. It is made from coconut milk and is sweetened with agave instead of sugar or corn syrup. Dr. Amy’s favorite is the Cappuccino flavor. (Coconut Bliss is available at some Wegmans stores, i.e. Pittsford, and Lori’s Natural Foods in Rochester, NY.)
2. Haagen Dazs Sorbet – Compared to other brands of sorbet, Haagan Daz brand is the real deal. It has the best ingredient list of just real, pronounceable foods and it is lower in calories than ice cream. Dr. Amy’s favorite is the chocolate flavor. You can find Haagen Dazs Sorbet at most grocery stores.
3. Homemade Fruit Smoothies – Try this recipe for a delicious and light frozen fruit drink. Watermelon Sparkler: Place frozen watermelon chunks, juice from half of a lime, 2 tsp agave nectar or sweetener of choice, and about 1/2 cup of sparkling water into a blender and whir it up. Enjoy – tastes best while sitting by a lake or pool.
Be well and eat healthfully,
